Her earthly representative is the Fay Enchantress, who watches over Bretonnia from her tower in Carcassonne and upon whose wise counsel King Louen depends. The Lady of the Lake is the principle Bretonnian deity, said to embody the pure, noble, courageous spirit for which the Kingdom is known.
It is our duty, and we ask no reward but that we be allowed to do it. We keep the Orcs from the rest of Bretonnia. However it would be a mistake to ignore Peasant Bowmen or Spearmen-at-Arms who provide an important shield for valuable units of Knights of the Realm and Grail Knights. The Bretonnian unit roster is focused mostly on heavy cavalry, and this where their killing power comes from. That's why the Lady being Lileath was a sort of step up to me as she put the Bretonnians on the same level as the elves instead of being elven puppets.Equestrian-based unit roster with a host of fast-moving skirmish cavalry and heavily-armoured shock cavalry. This info, along with the strong indication that the Lady was their doing as well, made Bretonnia look like it was completely in their thrall. The wood elf armybook even mentions that they disguise themselves and go among the royal courts. It's also hinted that despite it being the largest realm, it hardly expands or flexes it's power due to wood elf influence, much like why all of Bretonnia is kept in medieval stasis. Their strongest influence is in Quenelles where the Duke's castle is completely opened on the side facing the forest. The main book that shows wood elves manipulated the Bretonnians is in the rpg supplement "knights of the Grail" that shows the mythical Fay(forest spirits who take magically gifted children to the enchantress, and by take I mean steal from the crib) to be the wood elves of Athel Loren. Never read a GW novel eh? That's a shame as I've found them all quite enjoyable. It has the added advantage of most of the models doubling as Pathfinder monsters or characters. To these I would add some I already have:Īll in all, it makes a tidy little force with a variety of units and a strong woodsy feel. Here is the list I am sketching out on paper: I've always fancied the idea of building a small Bretonnia and Wood Elves army, and I think now is the time! One of the really appealing things about Age of Sigmar is that armies can be very small to begin with. Now that those armies are done and packed away, I'm ready to start with something new. I sold it long ago and began focusing on Empire, Vampires, and eventually Ogres. All this means that I am contemplating my first Age of Sigmar army, although I won't likely act on it for a few months yet.
At the same, I took a job overseas, leaving my hobby stuff behind. As the rumors for 9th edition/Age of Sigmar started to pile up last spring, I decided to finish off a few projects, tidy up a couple of armies, and then wait to see what happened.
